How it works

1. Complete your profile

Add your first name, last name and profile picture before listing, sending messages, requesting quotes or writing reviews. These details support safer trading but do not prove identity. Private ID verification through a specialist is planned, not available yet. Never post an ID number or ID document in your profile, listing or messages.

2. Find equipment and message safely

Browse equipment and sign in to message a seller from their listing. Buyers and sellers can reply in Messages. For sale listings, do not share phone numbers, email addresses, social handles, street addresses or bank details, or arrange private meetings or payments. Rental listings and rental conversations allow contact sharing and outside arrangements. Report harassment and block unwanted messages in Messages.

3. Inspect before paying

Ask questions in marketplace messages and contact marketplace support to coordinate an inspection without sharing personal details. Check condition, ownership, serial numbers and the agreed terms before proceeding.

Record the agreement and handover

In a signed in buyer and seller conversation, record the equipment price in ZAR, collection or delivery method, who pays transport, planned date and inspection requirements. The other participant must agree; the seller declares ownership or authority. The buyer can then record an inspected handover or either party can record a problem. Notes are private to the participants and authorised staff, with an append only history. These statements are not independently verified and do not take payment or release funds.

Protected website payments · coming soon

Eligible payments are planned to go through the website to an approved provider, never into MyTradeMarket's account for holding seller funds. For R100,000+ sales, the planned flow requires the buyer to confirm receipt and completion of the agreed inspection before the provider releases funds. Under R100,000 sales are planned for release after verified payment and safety checks, unless an approved delay applies.

Provider custody and conditional release approval are still pending. Website checkout, payment holding and seller payouts are not available. Do not send money to MyTradeMarket or arrange private sale payments. Contact support before completing a deal; no buyer payment protection is currently provided.

Renting

Rentals carry 0% MyTradeMarket commission for owners and renters. Rent out at your own risk. Equipment may not be returned, or may be stolen or damaged. MyTradeMarket does not guarantee return or recovery and does not provide rental insurance or compensation. Agree written hire terms, return dates and suitable insurance before handing equipment over. You may share contact details on rental listings and in rental conversations and arrange inspection, dates and payment directly outside the marketplace. Those arrangements have no MyTradeMarket payment protection. Owners can mark equipment rented out and returned in their dashboard.

Selling

List for free. Manage listings and reply to buyer enquiries from your account. Mark a sale listing sold to record a seller reported sale in your dashboard and public profile history. These counts are not verified payments. Verified seller badges still require staff approval, not a sales count.

Collection & delivery

Discuss transport requirements in marketplace messages. For sales, contact marketplace support before exchanging collection or delivery addresses. Rentals may coordinate directly. Agree buyer collection or seller arranged delivery, who pays, and loading and unloading responsibilities before paying. Shipping is not included automatically in the listed price. MyTradeMarket does not book carriers, track deliveries or insure cargo.

Use couriers for suitable smaller items and specialist heavy haul carriers for machinery. For overseas deliveries, request a freight forwarder quote using the equipment's weight, dimensions, collection address and destination. Agree cargo insurance, customs paperwork, duties and import taxes in writing, and check import restrictions.

Seller commission

Commission is due only on completed deals and is currently invoiced after completion.

Email confirmations and transport

Buyers and sellers must organise shipping and transport themselves. Agree who books and pays, loading and unloading, insurance, permits and customs duties before proceeding. MyTradeMarket does not provide transport.

Saving a deal proposal or recording an action submits a confirmation to your verified account email, subject to your email preferences and delivery availability. Both participants can request their own event confirmation from Deal records. These confirmations are not payment receipts; genuine payment receipts will require the approved website payment service, which is not connected yet.

Seller checks and payment readiness

Existing seller verification is staff review of submitted business details, not independent identity, bank account, contact or equipment ownership verification. Approved private verification services and confirmed TradeSafe marketplace payment access are still required. Payments will need verified gateway notifications, not a success page return, and legally reviewed refund, chargeback and seller recovery rules before activation.

Saved search email subscriptions

Sign in and subscribe to a saved equipment search to receive emails when matching listings are added. Alerts use your account email; saving a listing to favourites alone does not subscribe you. You can delete your alerts at any time, and app emails include an unsubscribe link.

Staying safe

Hidden sale contact details help protect you from scams and private payment pressure. Keeping conversations and agreements here preserves evidence for staff; moving elsewhere removes that marketplace record. Every listing's photos are scanned on this site and across Google; if they appear elsewhere, the seller must send our team a private video of the exact machine and its registration or serial number before it goes live. Serial and photo checks reduce risk but cannot guarantee a listing is genuine. Report suspicious requests, never share ID numbers in messages, and never pay by gift card, crypto or untraceable transfer.
