Refund policy
Last updated 26 October 2026.
Payments between buyers and sellers
MyTradeMarket does not take or hold payment for equipment. Refunds for equipment or rentals are agreed between buyer and seller under their contract and local consumer law.
Statutory cooling off and return rights
Where South Africa's ECTA section 44 applies to a consumer's electronic transaction, the consumer may cancel without a reason or penalty within seven days after receiving goods, or within seven days after concluding a services agreement. Only the direct return cost may be charged under that provision, and qualifying refunds must be made within 30 days of cancellation. Section 42 exclusions and other laws can change which transactions qualify; this is not a universal seven day return promise for every business sale, auction or rental.
Where the Consumer Protection Act applies, it provides additional rights, including remedies for defective goods and separate rules for direct marketing and fixed term agreements. Our commission refund policy does not replace those rights. Contact the seller and marketplace support with the transaction reference and cancellation request. A seller's private return terms cannot remove mandatory rights. Cross border transactions may also be governed by the buyer's or seller's local law.
Seller commission
Sellers pay the applicable sale commission below only on completed deals, invoiced after completion. If a deal is cancelled or the buyer gets a full refund within 30 days of the invoice, we refund the commission in full. Contact Kayla using our contact page with the invoice number.

How long it takes
Commission refunds are credited or paid back by EFT within 14 days of approval.
Cancellation, damage or non delivery
Agree cancellation and inspection terms before committing, subject to applicable consumer rights. If equipment is damaged, misrepresented or undelivered, retain dated photos, inspection findings, messages and transport or handover documents. Record a problem in your private deal record and submit a trade dispute in Messages. A record or staff review does not move funds or guarantee a refund.
Gateway fees, partial refunds and chargebacks
MyTradeMarket does not currently process website payments, so there is no platform gateway fee charge or automated chargeback recovery. Outside payment fees and disputes follow the parties' agreement, payment provider rules and applicable law. Do not assume an outside provider refunds processing fees.
Before website payments begin, legally reviewed provider compatible terms must specify gateway fee responsibility and refundability, partial refund commission treatment, chargeback handling and any lawful recovery of seller funds after payout. These matters are not yet agreed; MyTradeMarket cannot currently debit a seller's bank account, hold a reserve or recover a payout automatically.
Planned provider handling
Provider charges are separate from marginal commission, with the seller as the default fee payer. Fees and refundability require provider confirmation and disclosure before payment. The company will not hold seller funds in its bank account. Buyer confirmed release for R100,000+ equipment requires an approved provider; no current test status grants refund protection or moves money.
Rental risk and equipment return
Rent out at your own risk. Equipment may not be returned, or may be stolen or damaged. MyTradeMarket does not guarantee return or recovery and does not provide rental insurance or compensation. Agree written hire terms, return dates and suitable insurance before handing equipment over. This warning does not remove statutory rights or legal responsibilities. If equipment is not returned or theft is suspected, report the concern and contact the appropriate authorities and your insurer.
